Welcome to http://www.diarysysadmin.com/
If you would like to transffering your PDC (primary domain controller) to be ADC (additional domain controller), this an article hopefully can help you.
There are much more reason why you should change or transfer PDC to ADC where not explain in this post, so let's toward to the step how to transfer your PDC to ADC.
There are 5 point you must to configure before done transfering PDC to ADC :
- On ADUC (Active Directory User and Computer)
In this point, you need to open your ADUC, then edited an operation master. These for steps :
- Open your ADUC with click your start menu > point to administrative tools > active directory user and computer
- When the console opened, point to your domain then right click > Operation Master
- It would open a new console like this
- From the console above, you see there are three tab menu (RID, PDC, Infrastructure). Just change the PDC by click change button (before you click change button, please makesure on field “Operation Master” is fill your Old PDC first and on field “To transfer…” fill your new one ADC)
- Make sure you have done with point above for all tab menu (RID, PDC, Infrastructure)
You have done for step 1, let’s go to the next step
- Open your ADUC with click your start menu > point to administrative tools > active directory user and computer
- On ADDT (Active Directory Domains and Trust)
At this step, stil same like ADUC step. Just click on start > administrative tools > find ADDT feature. After open an ADDT console, then right click on the domain and select operation master (see picture below) :
- On ADS (Active Directory Scheme)
- At this point, you need to open MMC on your server, just click on start menu, then run/search then type MMC
- You would get a new console after that, then click on file menu > “add/remove snap ip
- After that, choose active directory scheme > add > ok
- You would get a new console like this, and viola..!! you had successful adding active directory scheme, you just follow a same step like step one above for changing your PDC to ADC (after finish, save your console for future purpose)
- At this point, you need to open MMC on your server, just click on start menu, then run/search then type MMC
