RPM is an open packaging system which runs on Linux and UNIX systems, especially on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The extention of RPM is “.rpm” file format
RPM was originally written in 1997 by Erik Troan and Marc Ewing.

    RPM or Red Hat Package Manager is an open packaging system which runs on Linux and UNIX systems, especially on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The extention of RPM is “.rpm” file format, RPM was originally written in 1997 by Erik Troan and Marc Ewing.
    Since RPM run with command-line which make it floaty and not use a high resource from your Linux or Unix Machine.

      RPM run with command-line which make it floaty and not use a high resource from your Linux or Unix Machine. Just type an command from your command-line then run your configuration without losing an performance from your Linux or Unix Machine
    2. How to use Red Hat Package Manager (RPM)

      • Download .Rpm package from internet, you can search everything packet you need to install
      • This an example package

      • Because i download and store package on my local device where not installed Red Hat OS on it (i'm using windows), so i need to upload to Red Hat Machine, in this step whatever you store an package, this is not mandatory step (just in case), so, i will upload my package using "Winscp" (you can search on google what is winscp)


      • My Assume you have been finish storing package on your Red Hat Machine, now point your console to storing directory using 'cd' command



      • If you success point your console to your directory, next step run command “rpm -ivh namepackect.rpm”

      • Finish, you have been successfully installing an package with .Rpm Method
    3. Recomendation using Red Hat Package Manager (RPM)

      I'm highly recommended using RPM since small resource needed and fast than using GUI. Hopefully you enjoy.
